Membership Code of Conduct
All SAEMA members agree to abide by a code of conduct which ensures a higher standard is maintained at all times.
Members shall at all times uphold the integrity and standards of the Association. They shall be loyal to the interests of SAEMA, be prepared to accept nomination to office and generally further the interests of the Association and its Members
Service to Clients shall be rendered with due regard to the best standards of workmanship, integrity and courtesy.
A Member shall not divulge or disclose confidential information from SAEMA sources to non-members.
A Member shall guard against association with or the use of his name by any person or organisation, which it might reasonably be anticipated, would bring SAEMA into disrepute.
Members shall refrain from publicly expressing critical comment on the services, conduct or charges of a fellow Member.
Members will be expected to refer to the Secretary of the Association any breach of this code, which may appear likely to bring discredit on SAEMA or its Members.
Members shall assist each other in all matters of common concern and provide the Secretary of the Association with such statistics and other information as may from time to time be requested by the Officers of the Association or by majority vote of the Members.
Members shall maintain, operate and review as necessary a safety policy.
Members shall take account of current health and safety legislation, standards, codes of practice and guidance issued from time to time by the Association.
When requested to provide a maintenance quotation for equipment that the SAEMA Member did not install, it shall be incumbent upon that Member to:
- Enquire as to whether the Defects Liability Period on the equipment has expired. If the defects liability period has not expired the Member shall decline to provide a quotation until such time as it has expired, unless the original manufacturer/installer has ceased trading and the liability period under the original installation contract has become null and void.
- Advise the source of the enquiry as to the ramifications to the Client of a third party being engaged to work on equipment still within the original installation contract defects liability period.
