The International Access & Scaffolding Association (IASA) has announced the launch of International Scaffolding and Access Day, an annual event set to take place on 14 May from 2026 onwards. This marks the first globally recognised day dedicated to celebrating the scaffolding and access sector.
For its inaugural edition, the theme will be: “Recognising the industry. Supporting its people. Shaping its future.”
While the day was initiated by IASA with a focus on scaffolding, it provides an opportunity for the wider work at height and specialist access sectors, including SAEMA members, to celebrate the expertise, professionalism, and commitment of those who keep projects safe and efficient at height. The day highlights the essential role these professionals play in construction, infrastructure, and maintenance around the world, and encourages the industry to unite in recognising both achievements and ongoing challenges.
Statement from IASA
David Brown, Chairman of IASA, said:
“International Scaffolding and Access Day will be a moment for the global community to celebrate the skill, courage, and professionalism of those working at height. By coming together each year on 14 May, we can promote excellence, inspire new talent, drive innovation, and raise standards across the sector. This day is for everyone in scaffolding and access to take pride in the vital work they do.”
Key Focus Areas for the Industry
IASA has outlined five global priorities that will shape the celebrations and discussions:
- Enhancing the Industry’s Image – Promoting safety, skill, and professionalism across scaffolding and access work.
- Developing Future Talent – Attracting, training, and retaining the next generation of specialists working at height.
- Driving Innovation – Encouraging new technologies, systems, and methods that improve safety, productivity, and sustainability.
- Strengthening Compliance – Supporting high standards and ethical practices to protect workers, clients, and the public.
- Standardising Training – Moving towards internationally recognised training frameworks for consistent competence and workforce mobility.
A Day for Celebration and Engagement
International Scaffolding and Access Day is designed as a positive and inclusive initiative, providing a shared platform for the global scaffolding and access community. It encourages professionals, companies, and trade associations to engage with colleagues, clients, and local communities, and to share messages, stories, and images that reflect pride in the work done at height.
For SAEMA members, this day is an opportunity to showcase the unique expertise of specialist access and maintenance teams, highlight safety innovations, and strengthen recognition of the sector’s role in infrastructure, construction, and maintenance projects worldwide.
IASA is calling on organisations and individuals across the globe to take part on 14 May each year, celebrating the contribution of those working at height and promoting the continued development of the industry.
