From Thursday 4th June to Monday 8th June, Kyle Davidson, the Chair of SAEMA, will be cycling 500km from London to Paris to raise vital funds for Cure Leukaemia.
Kyle has been involved with SAEMA since 2023, first serving as Technical Chair before being elected Chair of the organisation in 2025. He is the Regional Manager at Denholm Industrial, a company that operates in challenging environments to deliver access solutions, surface preparation, protective coatings, and containment services across vital infrastructure and marine projects throughout the UK.
London 2 Paris 2026
As the Cure Leukaemia website states: “London 2 Paris is, put simply, the best four days you can have on a bike, anywhere, anytime”
The event is designed for both seasoned cyclists and those taking on a new personal goal. Every detail is carefully planned – from accommodation and transport to a dedicated support team of mechanics, motorcycle outriders and sports physios.
Along the way, participants tackle demanding climbs, enjoy competitive time trials and benefit from full on-route support. The journey builds to a spectacular finale in Paris, where riders are escorted through the city to the Arc de Triomphe before continuing on to the Eiffel Tower, greeted by cheering crowds.
While the scale and atmosphere feel truly world-class, the event is designed to be accessible, with multiple speed groups ensuring that, with some preparation, it is an achievable and deeply rewarding challenge for a wide range of cyclists.
Kyle’s story
“Every 27 seconds, someone somewhere in the world is diagnosed with a form of blood cancer. That statistic is sobering and it’s exactly why this challenge matters,” explains Kyle.
“I’ll be completing this challenge together with my colleagues from Denholm and WPA, united as a team to push our limits and support a cause that truly matters.
“This will be a huge personal challenge for me, especially as cardio isn’t my strongest suit, but that’s precisely the point. Stepping outside my comfort zone feels insignificant compared to what so many people face every day.
“Every penny raised will help fund specialist research nurses across the UK. These incredible professionals connect patients with pioneering clinical trials, giving them access to the latest treatments when they need them most. These trials don’t just save lives, they help drive global progress towards curing blood cancer in all its forms.
“Training is well underway, and I’m genuinely enjoying the challenge. The mileage is steadily increasing each week, and I’m starting to feel stronger and more prepared for the 500km ride. It’s been a great mix of early‑morning sessions, longer weekend cycles, and a fair bit of grit when the weather hasn’t played ball in Glasgow.
“The physical side has been tough but rewarding, and the mental side staying consistent, pushing through tired legs, and keeping motivated has been just as important. With each session, the ride feels a little more achievable, and I’m looking forward to keeping the momentum going as the big day gets closer.”
