The Building Safety Levy: public consultation launched

SAEMA endeavours to keep its members up to date with the latest developments in the construction industry. We are pleased to bring you the following story from the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).

The Building Safety Act 2022 gave the Secretary of State for Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) powers to raise a levy on new residential buildings requiring building control approval in England, so as to raise funds for building safety remediation.

DLUHC has today launched a public consultation on options for implementation of this levy.

This consultation seeks views on the design of the levy, possible exclusions from payment of the levy, evidence of possible impacts on housing supply and regeneration, as well as the housebuilding industry and delivery mechanisms.

It is hosted on gov.uk  and Citizen Space

The consultation will close at midnight on 07th February 2023.

DLUHC are running consultation meetings to give you the opportunity to discuss your views with policy officials. If you would like to participate in one of these, please let them know by emailing: buildingsafetylevy@levellingup.gov.uk
